What size should I get?
Sizing is a personal preference, so use the below chart as a rough guideline. If you're unsure, please contact us—we'll get back to you within one business day or less and waiting for our response is days quicker than going through an exchange process.
Remember, wetsuits stretch. Yamamoto rubber will mold to your body over the first few surfs so it should start out a bit tight. It can take up to a half-dozen surfs for the suit to adapt to your body shape. Size up if you’re between sizes—always. See below for more of our observations and FAQs on sizing.

More information about wetsuit sizing!
Many wetsuit brands blow lots of air into the neoprene so there's less resistance when stretched. These suits stretch out quickly, so after a couple of months your suit feels like a soggy cotton sweatshirt. But not Yamamoto suits like FERAL, because the suit will stretch in the tightest spots for a natural fit that’s molded to your body shape. It should remain that way for the life of the suit. But remember: You don't need the tightest suit possible! Forcing your body into the same size suit you wore when you were 15, assuming you’re bigger now, means the suit is stretched to its max just putting it on. That means the suit can’t stretch much more when you’re paddling and surfing, so you have less flexibility. It’s better to be realistic that you're a large now than trying to force your older (and stronger) body into a medium because of your ego.
I wear a size L in Brand X, am I a size L in FERAL?
It depends on the brand. Better to email us to confirm. Many people choose to go up a half or full size in our suits when coming from some of our stretchiest competitors.
Can I buy two suits and return the one that doesn't fit as well?
Sure, but keep in mind, we've answered thousands of questions about wetsuit fit and most likely can steer you in the right direction and help avoid a trip to the post office. Our returns are free, but if everyone starts to order 6 sizes and return 5, eventually we’ll have to pass that cost on to you to stay in business.
There's a little tiny bit of extra room here, I don't think the fit is good for my body.
A little bit of extra room is ok, once you're in the water the pressure from the ocean will push the material towards your body and it will be fine. Unless it's excessive, don't worry about it.
There's some extra material in the underarms.
FERAL suits have a little more room there for effortless paddling. No, water is not going to get trapped, and it's actually less likely to give you a rash than a super tight underarm. We designed it that way, it’s not a fit issue.
Don’t overthink it.
Just put it on. Does it feel good? You found your size. Your suit doesn't need to fit like a custom handcrafted latex surgical glove—it will still work if there's a little extra room here and there. It might work even better because the material will actually have room to stretch. We tested this by sending Buzz out at double overhead wintertime Ocean Beach in a size XLS, though he normally wears a S and weighs 135lbs. Did he get cold? No. Did he have excessive amounts of water in his suit? No. Did he get a rash from the extra material? No. Did he get barreled? No, but it wasn’t the suit’s fault.
